Whenever you add a domain as hosted in some account, you typically set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that specific company. On their end, 3 records are set up automatically when the domain address is added - one A record and two MX records. The former is a numeric address, or IP address, that “tells” the Internet domain where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they reveal the server that manages the emails for that specific domain name. The site and the e-mail hosting are usually considered to be one thing, while they're in fact two different services. Having independent records for them will enable you to have them with different companies if you'd like. As an illustration, some new company could have superb uptime for your site, but you might not want to switch your e-mails from your current host and by using an A record to point the domain address to the former and MX records to have the e-mails with the second, you can get the best of both providers. These records are checked when you want to open a site or send an e-mail - in either case, the company whose name servers are used for the domain name will be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you are going to see the needed site or your email is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Web Hosting

If you have a web hosting from our company, you're going to be able to view, create and change any A or MX record for your domain names. Provided that a given domain name has our Name Servers, you are going to be able to to change particular records using our Hepsia hosting CP and have your site or emails directed to another provider if you wish to use only one of our services. Our advanced tool will allow you to have a domain name hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted elsewhere by changing only its A record - this will not affect the main Internet domain in any way. If you choose to use the e-mail services of a different service provider and they want you to set up more than two MX records, you can easily do this with simply a few clicks through the DNS Records section of your CP. You can also set different latency for every MX record i.e. which one is going to have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Accessing and modifying the A or MX records for any one of your domain names or subdomains is extremely easy if you buy a semi-dedicated server plan through our company. The accounts are managed via our in-house built Hepsia CP, which has a section committed to the DNS records of your domain addresses. The latter will be listed alphabetically and you could click on each of them to see both the A and the MX records. Editing any record will be as easy as entering the new one in a text box and saving the change, so even when you have never dealt with such matters before, you'll not experience any problems if you wish to direct your site or e-mails to an alternative provider while keeping the second service with our company. If necessary, you may also create additional MX records and set a certain priority depending on the recommendations of the new provider.
